Algerian Political Forces Condemn Israeli Strike on Iran, Call for National Dialogue and Regional Unity

Algeria's political parties denounce Israeli aggression against Iran and continued crimes in Gaza, urging internal resilience and a unified Arab-Islamic response to escalating regional threats.

Watan-Various Algerian political forces expressed their strong condemnation of the Israeli aggression on Iran and the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza, while warning that these regional developments will inevitably have internal repercussions. They called for a national dialogue to address how Algeria should confront the growing threats.

In an official statement, the Talaiou Al-Hurriyat Party described the Israeli assault on Iran as part of a series of war crimes committed by the Zionist entity and a reflection of its aggressive and bloody nature. The party declared full solidarity with the Iranian people and strongly condemned the Israeli seizure of the “Freedom Ship” and the abduction of its crew in international waters. It also praised the activists involved in the “Convoy of Steadfastness”, which symbolizes humanitarian solidarity amid the siege on Gaza.

The party reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, and condemned the U.S. use of veto power at the UN Security Council to block Algeria’s draft resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. It labeled the U.S. as a direct partner in war crimes and a contributor to the worsening humanitarian disaster in the strip.

Commending Algeria’s official diplomatic stance, the party said it reflects popular sentiment and Algeria’s historical commitment to Palestine. It also called for strengthening national unity, bolstering the Algerian army’s capabilities, and launching a comprehensive national dialogue on political and economic reform in light of mounting regional threats.

Wider Political Reactions Across the Spectrum

The National Construction Movement, a party that participates in government, also condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, calling it a dangerous development in Israel’s expansionist and destabilizing strategy. The group warned of Israel’s repeated efforts to spread chaos and conflict, especially targeting nations supportive of the Palestinian cause, such as Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria.

It stated that the assault was a direct consequence of the international community’s silence over Israel’s crimes in Gaza, and an attempt to mask Tel Aviv’s failure in the face of resistance. The movement said the attacks aim to entrench domination and blackmail in the region.

The party urged a unified Arab and Islamic position, calling on governments to break their silence and act urgently to protect sovereignty and dignity. It expressed support for any UN Security Council initiative that seeks to isolate Israel and designate it as a terrorist entity.

It also condemned the complicity of major powers with Israel and called on what remains of the global conscience to uphold humanitarian values and end the massacres against Palestinians. The movement saluted the global wave of protests, especially in the Maghreb, backing Gaza and rejecting Israeli aggression.

Statements from Other Major Parties

The Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) expressed deep concern and regret over the Israeli attack on Iranian scientific, military, and civilian facilities, which resulted in civilian casualties, including researchers and professionals.

MSP, aligned with Islamic political currents, described the assault as a blatant violation of international law, and a dangerous escalation aimed at destabilizing the region and suppressing any independent regional force challenging Western dominance.

It held the United States politically and morally accountable for its continued support of the Israeli occupation. The movement called on Islamic, Arab, and global actors to urgently act to stop the escalation and hold Israel accountable. It urged the Algerian government to adopt stronger diplomatic positions consistent with national principles, stressing that targeting Iran means targeting regional strength and sovereignty.

Leftist Perspective: The Workers’ Party

The Workers’ Party, which represents a leftist orientation, labeled the Israeli bombardment a new war crime, targeting civilian nuclear sites, airports, and residential areas, and killing women, children, scientists, and officials. The party claimed the attack occurred with prior U.S. approval, citing the evacuation of Americans from Iraq and the use of advanced American weaponry, intended to force Iran to abandon its peaceful nuclear program.

It argued that Israel serves as the military arm of American imperialism, especially as Netanyahu’s government faces internal crisis, expanding wars in Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and launching parallel attacks in Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.

The party condemned the Israeli-American escalation as a war on the peoples of the region, and declared unconditional solidarity with the peoples of Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, calling resistance to war and chaos a defense of both Algeria and humanity.

Official Algerian Government Response

In a formal statement, Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the blatant Israeli aggression on the Islamic Republic of Iran, blaming the culture of impunity granted to the occupying state.

The statement described the attack as a grave violation of international law and UN principles, part of a continued policy of militarized occupation that threatens the stability of the entire region, beginning with Palestine and expanding to all neighboring states.

Algeria warned against global complacency and called on the UN Security Council and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining peace and security and halting Israel’s unlawful actions.

In a phone call on Saturday, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi emphasized the need to mobilize international efforts to enable the Security Council to fulfill its mandate in safeguarding regional and global peace, referring to the Israeli strike as an “act of aggression against Iran.”

Algeria maintains strong diplomatic relations with Iran, reflected in high-level communication between presidents, official visits, and joint positions on Palestine in international forums.
