Watan-Israeli media reported on Sunday that dozens of Israeli settlers blocked humanitarian aid trucks headed to Gaza via the Allenby Bridge (King Hussein Bridge from the Jordanian side), as Israel’s blockade and war on Gaza continue.
According to the Maariv newspaper, activists from the far-right “Order 9” movement intercepted aid convoys traveling from Jordan. The group was founded by Reut and Yosef Ben Haim, settlers living in the Netivot settlement in the Negev, and it rallies under the slogan:“No aid until the last hostage returns.”
The Israel Hayom newspaper reported that several families of Israeli hostages in Gaza coordinated with “Order 9” activists to block hundreds of aid trucks delivering supplies to the besieged Palestinian population.
Protesters warned that:“This is just the beginning of a wave of protests that will expand to block other aid routes supplying Hamas in the coming days.”
Humanitarian Context in Gaza
-
Israel’s blockade of Gaza has lasted for 18 years.
-
Since the start of its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israel has displaced 1.5 million Palestinians out of the total 2.4 million in the Strip.
-
UNRWA warned on Sunday via X (formerly Twitter) of rising malnutrition rates in Gaza since March due to Israel’s ongoing restrictions on aid access.
-
As of March 2, Israel shut Gaza’s crossings to aid, allowing only a trickle of trucks—far below the minimum 500 trucks per day needed for survival.
The war, described by many as a genocidal campaign, has defied international calls and legally binding orders by the International Court of Justice to halt military operations.
Devastating Toll of the War on Gaza
-
Over 196,000 Palestinians killed or injured, with the majority being women and children
-
More than 10,000 still missing under the rubble
-
Hundreds of thousands displaced
-
Widespread destruction of homes, infrastructure, and hospitals
-
The war continues with full U.S. military and political support
