U.S. Man Convicted After Posting Beheading of Father on YouTube

Pennsylvania resident found guilty of murdering and decapitating his father in a politically charged act, then uploading the video online.

Watan-An American court in Pennsylvania convicted a man on Friday of murder after he posted a video on YouTube showing his father’s severed head.

Judge Stephen A. Corr of Bucks County announced the conviction of Justin D. Moon (33 years old) for the murder of his father in January 2024 at their home in Levittown, a suburb of Philadelphia.

According to the prosecution, Moon shot his father, Michael F. Moon (68 years old), using a handgun he had recently purchased, then beheaded him using a kitchen knife and a machete.

The 14-minute video remained available on YouTube for several hours before it was removed.

Moon testified during the trial, claiming he shot his father while attempting to “arrest him” on charges of making false statements and treason, alleging that his father resisted, prompting him to use lethal force.

He added that he cut off the head to “send a message” to federal government employees, urging them to respond to his demands, which included their resignation among other requests.

Moon was arrested the same day after he scaled the fence at Fort Indiantown Gap, the Pennsylvania National Guard’s main headquarters.

Prosecutors also accused Moon of inciting the overthrow of the U.S. government.

Authorities stated that, at the time of his arrest, Moon was carrying a USB drive containing images of government buildings and instructions for making explosives.

They also discovered years-old online writings by Moon that included violently anti-government and hateful rhetoric.
