Watan-Israeli military sources said Friday that Palestinian factions in Gaza have shown “greater boldness” in combat in recent days, amid mounting field difficulties faced by Israeli forces in the strip.
According to the Israeli Army Radio, the ongoing resistance by Palestinian factions to Israeli incursions has resulted in the death of 33 Israeli soldiers since the war resumed on March 18.
In the latest clashes, the army acknowledged on Friday that two soldiers were killed and two others seriously wounded during battles in both northern and southern Gaza.
Israel’s public broadcaster KAN quoted unnamed military sources as saying:“Palestinian fighters, who previously adopted a defensive posture and often stayed hidden, are now showing a greater willingness to engage and attack Israeli forces. They are fully armed.”
The sources added:“We’re facing armed groups equipped with machine guns, RPG launchers, and improvised explosive devices. Their capabilities remain locally made, but they know our troop locations in advance and act accordingly.”
A senior officer operating inside Gaza noted a clear shift in combat strategy following the latest confrontation with Iran in June. He pointed specifically to two fronts: Khan Younis in the south, and fighters in the north advancing toward Gaza City.
In a related development, Channel 13 reported Friday that Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a Thursday security cabinet meeting that the army “cannot control two million Palestinians in Gaza.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has continued a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. The war has left approximately 193,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the vast majority of them women and children, with over 10,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced.
