Watan-The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Friday that it has submitted a “positive” response to the mediators regarding the latest proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal.
In a statement, Hamas said:“We have completed internal consultations and discussions with Palestinian factions and forces regarding the mediators’ latest proposal to end the aggression against our people in Gaza.”
“The movement has delivered its response to the mediators, which was characterized by positivity, and the movement is fully ready to immediately enter into a round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework.”
Israeli Channel 12 reported, citing a well-informed source, that if Hamas agrees to the Gaza ceasefire proposal, an Israeli delegation is expected to head to Doha.
Meanwhile, an Israeli political official stated on Friday that Tel Aviv has not yet received an official response from Hamas regarding the latest proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal.
The official, quoted by the privately owned Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, said:“Israel has not yet received an official reply from Hamas concerning the latest ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposal.”
However, the official added:“There are assessments in Israel that the response may be positive, though conditional on modifications to certain clauses of the proposal.”
Hamas had announced Thursday evening that it was conducting consultations with Palestinian factions regarding the ceasefire offer presented by the mediators and that it would announce its final decision once the consultations concluded.
The movement confirmed in a statement:“Hamas will deliver its final decision to the mediators after the consultations conclude and will officially announce it.”
