Houthi Leader Vows Continued Red Sea Attacks on Israeli-Linked Ships

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi confirms naval operations will persist despite Iran-Israel ceasefire, citing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Watan-The leader of Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, announced Thursday evening that the group will continue its naval military operations against ships associated with Israel in the Red Sea.

In a televised address marking the Islamic New Year, al-Houthi said:“The continued closure of the Red Sea to Israeli maritime activity remains fully in effect, and the port of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) remains out of service.”

He added that during the current Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah, the group has carried out support and combat operations involving 25 ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles, and drones.

Al-Houthi further revealed that since the second wave of escalation began on 15 Ramadan (March 15), the group has launched a total of 309 ballistic and hypersonic missiles and drones.

Escalation Despite Iran-Israel Ceasefire

His remarks come despite the ceasefire agreement reached earlier this week between Iran and Israel, following a near two-week escalation that included missile exchanges and drone warfare.

The Houthis—allied with Iran—have continued to target ships they claim are linked to Israel or heading to Israeli ports, stating that their operations are part of their solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for Gaza.
