Israel Retaliates After Intercepting Iranian Missiles Hours Into Ceasefire

According to Iran’s state broadcaster, a spokesperson from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Military Command claimed that Israel had carried out airstrikes on Iran in three phases up to 9:00 AM local time (05:30 GMT) on Tuesday.

Earlier, the broadcaster stated that the ceasefire would take effect in Iran starting at 7:30 AM local time on Tuesday.

On Monday, Tehran launched a missile attack on Israel in four waves, in response to Tel Aviv’s continued aggression against Iran for the 11th consecutive day.

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz instructed the military to launch a forceful retaliation, stating:“In light of Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire announced by the U.S. President by launching missiles at Israel, and in accordance with our government’s policy of responding forcefully to any breach, I have instructed the IDF to retaliate strongly against Iranian regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”

Israel’s public broadcaster reported Tuesday that the country’s defense system intercepted a missile fired from Iran, just hours after the ceasefire was declared.

Channel 12 added that one or two missiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses.
