Iran Launches New Wave of Missiles at Israel as Tensions Escalate into Daytime Assaults

Dozens of Iranian missiles target Israeli cities including Haifa and Jerusalem in third consecutive day of strikes; Israeli military activates nationwide alerts and urges civilians to seek shelter.

Watan-Iran launched new waves of missiles toward Israel on Sunday, according to Iranian state TV, marking the third day of unprecedented military escalation between the two countries.

Four people were reportedly injured and two buildings damaged in the northern Israeli city of Haifa during the latest missile barrage, according to Israeli media.

The Israeli army radio reported that a missile struck the Lachish area, resulting in four injuries. Meanwhile, Israel’s national broadcaster said two buildings in Haifa were directly hit by Iranian missiles.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli army confirmed it had detected missile launches from Iran toward Israeli territory, and stated that air defense systems were actively intercepting the threat.

A statement published on the army’s official X (formerly Twitter) account read:“Moments ago, rockets were launched from Iran toward Israel. Our defense systems are intercepting the threat.”

The military urged residents to immediately enter protected shelters upon hearing alarms and to remain there until further notice.

Air raid sirens and the sounds of explosions were reported in Jerusalem, where journalists saw at least 12 missiles streaking across the sky followed by loud detonations.

In another statement, the army acknowledged multiple sites were hit during the latest barrage, and Israel’s firefighting services confirmed a residential building on the Mediterranean coast was struck directly.

The army added:“Search and rescue teams from the Home Front Command have been dispatched to impacted areas following the latest Iranian missile barrage.” Fire services confirmed they were heading to the affected coastal building.

Iranian Military Warning to Israeli Civilians

In a televised video statement, the Iranian armed forces urged Israeli civilians to stay away from “critical infrastructure areas” for their safety, coinciding with the ongoing missile attacks.

A spokesperson warned:“We have a database of vital and strategic locations in occupied territories (Israel). Do not allow the Zionist regime to use you as human shields. Do not reside or travel near these critical areas.”

First Daylight Iranian Strike on Israel

This assault marked the first daylight missile attack by Iran on Israel. The state-run IRNA news agency confirmed that a new wave of rockets was launched on Sunday afternoon toward Israeli territory.

The Israeli army stated that it is working to intercept and neutralize the threats, adding:“Air raid alerts were activated in several areas across the country after detecting missile launches from Iran.”

It added that air force units are currently intercepting and targeting the incoming missiles and warned that “the defense system is not airtight,” emphasizing the need to follow Home Front Command instructions.

Sirens sounded once again in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and central Israeli cities, as well as in northern Israel. The Ministry of National Security instructed citizens nationwide to stay near shelters and bunkers.

An army spokesperson announced that all public movement should be minimized and public gatherings avoided. These directives will remain in effect until further notice, officials said.
