Watan-Researchers this week revealed that eating white bread may increase the risk of death among colon cancer patients.
According to The Independent (UK), the study was conducted on more than 1,600 stage 3 colon cancer patients, examining their dietary habits after diagnosis and treatment.

The team found that patients who consumed white bread and other inflammatory foods—including fried potatoes, hot dogs, and soft drinks—were 87% more likely to die than those who ate the least of these foods.
The study also noted that patients who engaged in higher levels of physical activity achieved better overall survival outcomes compared to those who were inactive.
Inflammation, whether mild or severe, can cause a range of health problems, and chronic inflammation is believed to be a root cause of many long-term diseases, including cancer.
Dr. Sarah Charles, a clinical fellow in hematology and oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and co-author of the study, said in a statement:“One of the most common questions cancer patients ask us is what they can do after treatment to minimize the risk of recurrence and improve their chances of survival.”
She added:“These findings add to existing research emphasizing the importance of diet and physical activity in supporting the health of colorectal cancer patients.”
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide, affecting approximately 1.93 million people.
