Watan-The Spanish Ministry of Defense has announced the suspension of a contract with an Israeli company for the production of Spike LR2 anti-tank missile systems intended for use by the Spanish Army’s ground forces.
This decision comes after the Spanish Parliament passed a recommendation on May 20 calling for a ban on military contracts with Israel, citing accusations of genocide committed by Tel Aviv against Palestinians in Gaza.
According to Spanish media reports on Tuesday, official sources confirmed that the ministry decided to suspend the contract, which was originally announced on October 3, 2023, and valued at approximately €285 million. The deal was awarded to PAP Tecnos, the Spanish subsidiary of Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
