Former U.S. State Department Spokesman Admits: Israel Committed War Crimes in Gaza

Matthew Miller, ex-spokesperson under Biden, acknowledges war crimes in Gaza after leaving office—contradicting official U.S. statements during his tenure.

Watan-Matthew Miller, former spokesperson for the U.S. State Department under President Joe Biden, admitted in an interview with Sky News that Israel “undoubtedly” committed war crimes in Gaza—a stark departure from his official denials at press briefings during his time in office.

Miller clarified that, while in his role, he was unable to share personal opinions, stating:“When you’re on the podium, you’re not expressing personal views—you’re delivering the conclusions of the U.S. government.”

His remarks come amid growing global condemnation of Israeli military actions in Gaza, where tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed, and infrastructure—including schools, hospitals, and refugee camps—has been devastated.

Israeli war crimes in Gaza

Human rights groups such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have called for independent investigations into potential war crimes committed by Israeli forces during the ongoing war.

Despite Israel’s claims that it targets Hamas militants, critics point to the widespread civilian casualties and systemic destruction as evidence of disproportionate force and violations of international humanitarian law.

The U.S., meanwhile, continues to provide military and political support to Israel, though domestic opposition is mounting, with members of Congress and segments of the American public urging the Biden administration to reassess its role in the war and hold Israel accountable.
