Watan-Hamas accused Israel of engaging in “cheap and unacceptable blackmail” after its decision on Sunday to cut electricity supplies to Gaza. The group alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to derail the ceasefire agreement by imposing a new roadmap that serves his personal interests at the expense of Israeli prisoners’ lives.
Ezzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, condemned the electricity cutoff, stating that it follows previous measures depriving Gaza of food, medicine, and water. He described it as a “desperate attempt to pressure our people and resistance through cheap and unacceptable blackmail.”
He added, “Netanyahu seeks to obstruct an agreement witnessed by the world, trying to impose a new roadmap that serves his personal interests at the expense of the prisoners’ lives, disregarding their families’ demands.”
Al-Rishq emphasized that “the only way forward is to adhere to the agreement’s terms and proceed with the second phase of negotiations. Any attempt to stall is a waste of time and a manipulation of the prisoners’ fate.”
He further denounced Israel’s actions, stating that “cutting electricity, closing crossings, halting aid, blocking fuel, and starving our people amount to collective punishment and a full-fledged war crime.”
