Watan-The image circulating on social media purportedly showing Hamas leaders attending a lavish iftar during the current month of Ramadan, coinciding with the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and its siege against Palestinians, has spread widely.
The alleged photo depicted the presence of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hamas External Affairs Chief Khaled Meshaal at the iftar event.
However, this portrayal is misleading. The circulated image is old and does not depict Hamas leaders attending an iftar during the current month of Ramadan.

In reality, the image dates back to October 29, 2021, when a delegation of Hamas leaders, led by Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Meshaal, attended an event organized by the Turkish Embassy in Qatar to celebrate the Turkish Republic National Day.
The celebration took place at the residence of the Turkish ambassador at that time and was attended by Qatari officials, along with a gathering of Arab and foreign ambassadors and some officials.
During the event, Hamas delegation head Ismail Haniyeh conveyed congratulations to Turkey on its National Day.
