Watan-A Kuwaiti jeweler presented a dress made of pure gold on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, which falls tomorrow, February 14th, at his shop located in Mubarakiya Market in the capital of Kuwait, sparking widespread debate on social media.
The jeweler, known as “Abu Yousef,” shared a video on his official Instagram account, captured by a local news outlet, showcasing this unique dress, describing it as the latest fashion trend in Kuwait.
A Dress Made of Gold at a Fantastic Price The Kuwaiti jeweler mentioned in his remarks that the golden dress is priced at 48,000 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately 155,000 US dollars).
To promote the deal, he announced that a free box, flowers, and packaging would be provided to buyers until February 17th.
Despite the potential allure of the golden dress as a symbol of luxury and status, it has not found a buyer since it was first introduced in 2021 due to its exorbitant price and uniqueness, despite “Abu Yousef’s” promotional efforts to sell it.
In his presentation of the dress this year, the Kuwaiti jeweler wrote a humorous phrase, stating that he washed the dress and put it on display for Valentine’s Day. He widened the target audience for purchase by saying it is suitable for mothers, sisters, daughters, as well as fiancées and wives, according to the circulated video.
The video sparked a wave of reactions on social media platforms across Kuwait and the Arab world.
While some praised the innovation of the gift idea and its uniqueness, others criticized the high price, questioning the necessity of such extravagant spending on Valentine’s Day.
