Watan-In the first response from the UAE regarding the accusations leveled against it by Sudanese officials and military leaders regarding fueling the Sudanese war through support to Rapid Support Forces militias, the Gulf state’s mission to the United Nations rejected what it described as “false claims” by Sudan’s permanent representative regarding the UAE’s involvement in any form of aggression or destabilization in his country.<\/p>\n

This came in a letter sent by UAE’s Permanent Ambassador, Mohammed Abu Shahab, to the President of the UN Security Council yesterday.<\/p>\n

The UAE officially responds to Sudan’s accusations, with Abu Shahab stating, “The claims of the Sudanese<\/a> permanent representative have no basis in truth and contradict the strong fraternal relations between our two countries.”<\/p>\n

He added, “Unfortunately, it seems that these are nothing more than attempts to divert attention from the conflict and the deteriorating humanitarian situation resulting from the continued fighting.”<\/p>\n

He further refuted all reports, even those published by human rights organizations, confirming Abu Dhabi’s support for Hameti and his militias, stating, “All allegations regarding the involvement of the UAE in any form of aggression or destabilization in Sudan, or its provision of military, logistical, financial, or political support to any faction in Sudan, are false claims lacking any basis in truth and devoid of any reliable evidence to support them.”<\/p>\n

Sudan calls on the UN Security Council to condemn the UAE<\/h3>\n

On Friday, the UN Security Council held a special session on the situation in Sudan<\/a>, during which the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the African Union presented two reports on the situation in Sudan, followed by discussions among council members and remarks from Sudan’s permanent representative to the UN, Harith Idris.<\/p>\n

Idris stated in his address to the council that “condemnation of the UAE outright in the council constitutes the right start to stopping the war, with a request for it to cease supplying militias with war equipment, armored vehicles, financing fighters, providing jamming tools, and advanced missiles such as (Javelin 148).”<\/p>\n

In our letter to the UN Security Council, the UAE unequivocally rejects the baseless allegations made by the Permanent Representative of Sudan. Such claims are spurious and unfounded.<\/p>\n
