Watan-The Saudi authorities arrested a citizen who fed a camel a Saudi banknote, as documented in a circulated video, sparking a debate.<\/p>\n
The General Security’s account on X-Twitter previously reported that the police in Al-Dawadmi Governorate in the Riyadh region arrested a person for deliberately damaging currency in visual content without mentioning his identity or name.<\/p>\n
However, the General Security posted a picture of the accused without showing his face, appearing bound backwards. He was referred to the public prosecution to take necessary legal measures against him.<\/p>\n
In the circulated video, the apprehended person appeared holding a 500-riyal banknote and offering it to the camel, which started to consume it to the tunes of a Saudi song.<\/p>\n
The behavior of the Saudi citizen and his disregard for his country’s currency stirred a wave of displeasure. Lawyer “Saud Aqil” commented that this constitutes foolishness in dealing with money, extravagance, citing the verse: “(And do not give the foolish your property, which Allah has made a means of support for you.)” He also quoted Al-Shafi’i saying: “The fool is the one who extravagantly wastes his wealth or his religion.”<\/p>\n
