{"id":8990,"date":"2024-04-08T17:13:52","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T17:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.watanserb.com\/en\/?p=8990"},"modified":"2024-04-08T17:13:52","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T17:13:52","slug":"french-mayor-and-siblings-arrested-70-kilograms-of-cannabis-seized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.watanserb.com\/en\/2024\/04\/08\/french-mayor-and-siblings-arrested-70-kilograms-of-cannabis-seized\/","title":{"rendered":"French Mayor and Siblings Arrested: 70 Kilograms of Cannabis Seized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Watan-The French authorities revealed that security forces arrested the mayor of a town and two of her brothers in a town in the east of the country, after 70 kilograms of cannabis were seized in her home.<\/p>\n<p>The public prosecutor, Hugues de Phily, told Agence France-Presse that Jamila Al-Habsawi, the mayor of Avallon since 2021, was arrested after security forces raided her home and workplace.<\/p>\n<p>The raid came as part of an investigation initiated by the authorities several weeks ago into drug trafficking operations in the small town, which has a population of six thousand people.<\/p>\n<p>The public prosecutor explained that investigators searched Al-Habsawi&#8217;s home, the town hall building, and the pharmacy where she works as a pharmacist, but did not specify the quantity of drugs found in her home.<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with the investigation reported that security forces seized at least 70 kilograms of cannabis in Al-Habsawi&#8217;s home.<\/p>\n<p>The public prosecutor further stated that a total of seven people have been detained for questioning in this case, including Al-Habsawi and two of her brothers.<\/p>\n<h3>Cocaine and gold seized<\/h3>\n<p>He added that the investigation also led to the seizure of 983 grams of cocaine, 7,000 euros in cash, and about 20 gold bars.<\/p>\n<p>Security forces carried out this raid as part of a national campaign to combat the growing drug trade in French cities and towns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Watan-The French authorities revealed that security forces arrested the mayor of a town and two of her brothers in a town in the east of the country, after 70 kilograms of cannabis were seized in her home.
