Watan-The influence of the son of the Egyptian President, Mahmoud al-Sisi, has been growing at the expense of “Abbas Kamel,” the man who has long been considered his father’s confidant and companion.<\/p>\n
A report from the opposition platform “Rassd” pointed out that al-Sisi’s son has become the effective controller of the General Intelligence Directorate, amidst unprecedented marginalization of Abbas Kamel, who nominally heads the agency.<\/p>\n
The report added, “Abbas Kamel now only governs his small office within the intelligence apparatus, while Mahmoud al-Sisi has become the ultimate authority and wielder of absolute power and influence within the agency.”<\/p>\n
The son of al-Sisi’s influence has extended to all branches of the agency, becoming responsible for direct communication with the state’s security and military apparatus. He now holds the first and final say within the agency.<\/p>\n
