Watan-Journalists and human rights activists in Egypt condemned the authorities of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for launching a campaign of arrests following a demonstration in support of Gaza in front of the Journalists Syndicate.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian authorities conducted a wide-ranging arrest campaign against academics and activists who participated in a demonstration in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
The demonstration started in front of the Journalists Syndicate building in the capital Cairo, only to be met with arrests by Sisi’s security apparatus, targeting activists such as Mohamed Awad, a member of the political bureau of the Movement for Justice and Freedom Youth, and engineer Mohamed Nawar, a member of the Hope Party still in the process of formation.<\/p>\n
