Preacher Haifa Younis, the head of the “Jannah” charitable foundation in the United States, sparked a reaction after answering this question.<\/p>\n
Haifa said in a television interview with Al Jazeera, “If a Muslim fulfills the obligations of fasting, refrains from what breaks the fast, and performs the duties, then his fasting is valid according to Sharia law.”<\/p>\n
But she added, “What kind of fasting is mine? And how much reward will I get for this fasting? Especially when I see this famine before me… Many people overlook that sin acts as a barrier between the servant and his Lord in the acceptance of supplication.”<\/p>\n
