The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, will visit Doha on Wednesday, September 6th, to discuss the relationship between the two countries and the ongoing Sudanese war developments. This visit comes a week after a similar trip by al-Burhan to Egypt, marking his first foreign stop since the outbreak of battles between the army, which he leads, and the Rapid Support Forces under the leadership of Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” last April.<\/p>\n

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al-Ansari, emphasized in a media briefing that Qatari-Sudanese relations have always been characterized by continuous communication. He noted that such visits are not unusual. A delegation from the Forces of Freedom and Change (Central Council group) in Sudan had previously met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, last Thursday. They discussed the latest developments in Sudan and explored ways to halt the war and restore peace in the country.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the media committee of the Forces of Freedom and Change, the coalition’s delegation expressed gratitude for Qatar’s efforts and its solidarity with the Sudanese people, as well as its humanitarian and diplomatic endeavors to end the war in Sudan and its repercussions.<\/p>\n

Since mid-April, Sudan has witnessed widespread violent clashes between forces in various regions, with most concentrated in the capital, Khartoum. Several Arab, African, and international parties have attempted to mediate and establish a ceasefire, but none have achieved a lasting cessation of hostilities.<\/p>\n
