Watan-The website “Verify,” a Palestinian platform for fact-checking information and verifying Palestinian content, debunked an image that some claimed was taken with the special forces that stormed Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin city, West Bank, on Tuesday, in an attempt to boost the morale of the collapsing occupation army.<\/p>\n
It turns out that the image is old and dates back to the visit of the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, to the undercover unit of the Border Police in “Judea and Samaria” on January 18th of this year. During the visit, he ordered them to shoot any Palestinian carrying a weapon.<\/p>\n
In the circulated image, Ben Gvir appeared among a group of people dressed more like resistance fighters. Some of them appeared to be covering their faces with Palestinian kuffiyehs, while others had them on their shoulders, and none of the undercover officers’ faces were visible, except for Ben Gvir.<\/p>\n
One of them on the far right of the image appeared to be wearing a blue women’s dress and also had a women’s head covering.<\/p>\n
The Palestinian observatory “Verify” clarified that the circulated image was published by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper on January 18, 2024, under the title: “Ben Gvir with his ‘fire orders’: ‘Do you see a terrorist? Shoot – even if he doesn’t pose a threat.'”<\/p>\n
The newspaper explained that the image documented the visit of the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir to the undercover unit of the Border Police in “Judea and Samaria,” accompanied by the Border Police Commander Brigadier General Yitzhak Brik. It noted that during the visit, he spoke with the undercover unit and fighters, provided them with full support, and ordered them to shoot any armed Palestinian.<\/p>\n
