Watan-Western media has confirmed the killing of three American soldiers and the injury of approximately 24 in a drone attack on a site of U.S. forces near the Jordanian border with Syria.<\/p>\n

This marks the first time that American soldiers have been killed in attacks on U.S. interests since the beginning of the war in Gaza.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden acknowledged that three American service members were killed and others injured in a drone attack on U.S. forces stationed in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border.<\/p>\n

Biden vows accountability<\/h3>\n

Biden blamed Iran-backed militant groups for the attack, stating in a statement quoted by The Guardian that “many” service members were also injured in the attack.<\/p>\n

Biden vows accountability and said, “As we gather the facts of this attack, we know that it was carried out by armed extremist groups supported by Iran operating in Syria and Iraq.” He added that the United States “will hold all responsible accountable, in time and in the manner we choose.”<\/p>\n

The attacks reportedly took place at Tower 22, a small site for U.S. forces as part of an advisory and assistance mission with Jordan.<\/p>\n

Officials said that the number of service members injured in the attack on the U.S. base<\/a> in Jordan is now over 30 people, with the likelihood of it increasing as they seek treatment for symptoms consistent with painful brain injuries.<\/p>\n

The unnamed source added that the unmanned attack drone that struck during the night landed near residential areas in the base.<\/p>\n

Attacks at Tower 22<\/h3>\n

It is unclear why the air defenses failed to intercept the drone, which appears to be the first known attack on Tower 22 since the start of attacks on U.S. forces and coalition forces in the region on October 17.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Jordan denied that the attack targeting U.S. forces occurred within the kingdom’s borders but targeted the Tanf base in Syria outside Jordan’s borders.<\/p>\n

The Tanf base, housing U.S. forces, is located at the tri-border area between Syria, Iraq, and Jordan and has previously been targeted by suicide drones launched by unknown assailants at various times in recent years.<\/p>\n

Jordan denies<\/h3>\n

Jordanian government spokesman and Minister of State for Media Affairs, Mamdouh Al-Mubaidin, stated on Sunday that the attack targeting U.S. forces near the Syrian border did not occur within Jordan.<\/p>\n

Since the start of the Israeli war on Hamas in Gaza, U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria have faced drone and missile attacks on their bases. This attack represents the first targeting of U.S. forces near Jordan during the war.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
