Watan-In a new scandal documenting the farce of the presidential elections scene in Egypt, a video has surfaced capturing an electoral bribery operation in front of one of the polling stations.<\/p>\n

An Egyptian citizen recorded the process of distributing bribes to voters to elect the current regime’s president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in the Ain Shams area of the capital, Cairo. The value of each vote was estimated at 300 Egyptian pounds.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian presidential<\/a> elections are widely described as a farce, lacking genuine competition after el-Sisi eliminated any chance of a real contender from the opposition.<\/p>\n

As the day progressed, media outlets supportive of el-Sisi focused on television footage claiming to show a turnout at the polling stations. Meanwhile, the opposition, which called for boycotting the presidential elections, cast doubt on the integrity of the electoral process, describing it as predetermined.<\/p>\n

Reduction in the number of constituencies and judges<\/h3>\n

Judicial sources revealed that the number of electoral constituencies and participating judges overseeing the ongoing elections has been reduced compared to previous elections. This is despite an increase in the number of voters from 54 million in 2014 to over 67 million, making the scenes of congestion “unrealistic at times.”<\/p>\n

A judicial source overseeing voting in a densely populated informal residential area reported that the peak of congestion occurred during the period from 9 to 11 in the morning, gradually decreasing afterward.<\/p>\n

According to the website Mada Masr, voters in some areas received “bonuses” in the form of a monetary amount (200 Egyptian pounds) or equivalent food items. In various regions, some were promised a “bag” of groceries by supporters of parties and businessmen affiliated with the authorities after voting.<\/p>\n
