Watan –<\/em> In a significant diplomatic move, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has declined to attend the Cairo Peace Summit scheduled for Saturday. The summit aims to discuss the ongoing developments and the future of the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n

Algerian journalist and Al Jazeera presenter, Khadija Ben Qanna, mentioned in a post on the platform “X” (formerly Twitter) that Egypt had extended an invitation to Algeria for the summit. However, Algeria chose not to accept the invitation.<\/p>\n

Ahmed Hafsi, an Algerian journalist, confirmed the news, stating, “Algeria does not participate in round tables with ‘booby-trapped’ agendas where the oppressor and the victim are equated, excluding the rightful owners of the land, and attended by those who have sold out and received the price.”<\/p>\n

Hafsi further hinted that Algeria’s refusal to attend the summit might be due to the participation of UAE’s leader, Mohammed bin Zayed. He remarked, “Imagine, the UAE, which condemned the Al-Aqsa Flood operation and from its military bases transported American weapons shipments to Tel Aviv, will discuss mechanisms for establishing peace while the genocide against the Palestinian people continues, authorized by the West and greenlit by normalized Arab capitals.”<\/p>\n

The summit, initiated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, was first announced following a meeting of Egypt’s National Security Council a few days ago. At the time, Sisi expressed his hope that the summit would lead to a de-escalation in Gaza, which has been under continuous aggression since October 7th, following the launch of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation by Palestinian resistance factions.<\/p>\n
