Watan<\/strong><\/em>-Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Friday the arrest of 153 individuals across the country on charges of belonging to the terrorist organization Daesh.<\/p>\n

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Yerlikaya stated that the Gendarmerie forces carried out operations targeting Daesh in 28 provinces over the past two weeks. He confirmed that 153 individuals were apprehended for their alleged affiliation with the terror group.<\/p>\n

Investigations revealed that the detainees were active members of Daesh, involved in funding so-called \u201crelief organizations\u201d tied to the group and promoting Daesh propaganda via their social media accounts.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Turkey had announced joint counterterrorism initiatives with regional countries to combat Daesh. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan had agreed in principle to take coordinated actions to fight Daesh in the region. He added that the countries would enhance cooperation between their foreign ministries, defense departments, and intelligence agencies, with plans to bolster border security measures as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
