Watan<\/strong><\/em>-The Refugee Platform in Egypt has called on the Egyptian government to facilitate procedures for a global humanitarian diplomatic convoy supported by over 760 human rights organizations. This includes easing entry into Egypt, securing the convoy\u2019s movement inside Egyptian territory, and permitting its passage through the Rafah crossing into Gaza.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the platform described Israel\u2019s war on Gaza\u2014ongoing for 600 days\u2014as a \u201cbrutal and bloody\u201d assault that has grossly violated legal and humanitarian norms, targeting civilians extensively. Of approximately 54,000 Palestinian martyrs, over 18,000 were children and more than 12,500 women, with children, women, and the elderly making up over 60% of casualties.<\/p>\n

The statement also revealed that 2,200 Palestinian families were completely wiped out, with entire households martyred, totaling over 6,350 victims. An additional 5,120 families lost all but one member, following the deaths of more than 9,351 people. The number of injuries has reached around 123,000, indicating the deliberate, unrestricted targeting in Israel\u2019s \u201cgenocidal war.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Reports describe surgeries conducted without anesthesia, with doctors forced to choose which patients to treat and which to leave to die.<\/p>\n

    The platform emphasized that completely blocking aid is a war crime, especially with over 5,000 life-saving aid trucks ready for dispatch, as confirmed by Juliette Touma, spokesperson for UNRWA.<\/p>\n

    According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) initiative, around 470,000 people in Gaza face catastrophic hunger (Phase 5), while the entire population suffers from severe food insecurity. It is estimated that 71,000 children and over 17,000 mothers urgently need treatment for acute malnutrition. UNICEF and WFP earlier estimated 60,000 children require immediate medical intervention.<\/p>\n

    The platform called on the Egyptian government and others to publicly commit to joining the convoy by sending official diplomatic missions to accompany aid trucks through Rafah into Gaza.<\/p>\n

    It also rejected any attempts to politicize aid, particularly Israeli proposals to militarize its distribution and bypass UN and humanitarian organizations.<\/p>\n

    The platform noted that some governments complicit in Gaza\u2019s atrocities refuse to join the convoy, and it urged diplomats, MPs, and ministers from those countries to participate in a personal capacity.<\/p>\n

    It also called on global civil society\u2014including NGOs, labor unions, student groups, political parties, and solidarity networks\u2014to pressure their governments to support the convoy financially, politically, and publicly.<\/p>\n

    Finally, the platform asked the United Nations to complete the necessary assessments to officially declare Gaza a famine zone, and to back the initiative with diplomatic facilitation and direct participation.<\/p>\n
