Watan<\/strong><\/em>-International political tensions are mounting ahead of a major international conference set for June, jointly spearheaded by France and Saudi Arabia, with the goal of rallying global recognition of the State of Palestine. As world leaders prepare to attend, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar issued a direct warning to Western countries, stating that any unilateral recognition of Palestine will be met with \u201cunilateral actions\u201d from Israel.<\/p>\n

In comments reported by Hebrew-language media, Sa\u2019ar warned that one of the most prominent of these actions would be the formal annexation of the West Bank, including Israeli settlements and strategic areas in the Jordan Valley. His remarks came during a series of meetings with his counterparts from the UK and France, aimed at pressuring them ahead of the upcoming conference.<\/p>\n
