At the same time, they reduce levels of an enzyme called DPP-4 that deactivates GLP-1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1423\">As a result, a hormone that typically lasts just a few minutes remains active for up to a week, creating a nearly constant feeling of satiety after meals\u2014leading to reduced food intake and weight loss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1481\">However, medications aren\u2019t the only way to boost GLP-1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1668\">In an interview with Science Alert, U.S. nutritionist Mary Skorbutakos shared several natural strategies to raise GLP-1 levels and mimic the effects of weight-loss injections.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1704\">1. Studies suggest eating protein (like fish or meat) before carbs (like rice) raises GLP-1 more than the reverse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2547\" data-end=\"2759\">Eating vegetables before carbs also offers similar benefits.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2792\">4.
