support for Sudan\u2019s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n<article class=\"text-token-text-primary w-full\" dir=\"auto\" data-testid=\"conversation-turn-128\" data-scroll-anchor=\"true\">\n<div this catastrophic war,\u201d which has killed tens of thousands, displaced millions, and caused famine in large parts of the northeast African country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"655\" data-end=\"795\">Sudan is requesting the ICJ to compel the UAE to halt its alleged support for the RSF, which has been fighting the Sudanese army since 2023.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6541\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rising Violence in Sudan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"66\">Sudan Accuses UAE of Backing Genocide in Darfur<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"1028\">The complaint, filed by Sudan\u2019s military-backed government, accuses the RSF of committing \u201cgenocide, murder, theft of property, rape, forced displacement, attacks on and destruction of public property, and human rights violations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1030\" data-end=\"1231\">According to the lawsuit, these acts \u201cwere committed and carried out as a result of direct support provided by the United Arab Emirates to the rebel Rapid Support Forces and their affiliated militias.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1412\">Sudan has urged the ICJ\u2014the highest judicial body of the United Nations that settles disputes between states\u2014to issue \u201cprovisional measures\u201d requiring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.watanserb.com\/en\/2025\/04\/01\/uaes-secret-strategy-to-evade-genocide-charges-at-the-international-court-of-justice\/\">UAE <\/a>to pay compensation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1414\" data-end=\"1633\">Sudan accuses the UAE of breaching its obligations under the 1948 UN Genocide Convention by \u201cattempting to commit genocide, conspiring to commit it, inciting it, participating in it, or failing to prevent or punish it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1635\" data-end=\"1827\">However, a senior Emirati official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue, said, \u201cThese baseless allegations are a misuse of the court\u2019s time and procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"2055\">Abu Dhabi has consistently denied supplying weapons to the RSF.
