Watan<\/strong><\/em>-In a new step reflecting an escalation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, the occupation authorities have revealed a new strategic road named the “Morag Axis,” which stretches between the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis in the southern part of the Strip.<\/p>\n

This move is considered the most dangerous since the creation of the Philadelphi Corridor, as the new axis aims to separate southern Gaza and enforce a significant demographic and geographic transformation on the ground.<\/p>\n

The axis is named after the Morag settlement, originally established in 1972 as a military outpost and later converted into an agricultural settlement within the Gush Katif bloc, before Israel’s unilateral withdrawal in 2005. The name now resurfaces in a far more dangerous military context, as the occupation attempts to redraw Gaza’s borders by force.<\/p>\n

The Morag Axis extends from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to Salah al-Din Road in the east, reaching the Sufa border crossing between Gaza and the occupied territories. Stretching approximately 12 kilometers, the road separates Rafah from Khan Younis, potentially dividing Gaza into two parts.<\/p>\n

Experts warn of catastrophic economic consequences, as the road passes through some of Gaza\u2019s most fertile agricultural lands. With its construction, Israel would effectively have consumed what remains of the Palestinian food basket, accelerating the risk of famine, which already looms over the population due to ongoing siege and bombardment.<\/p>\n

The axis threatens not only geographic unity but also the social fabric, reinforcing Israeli plans to displace the population and enforce a permanent demographic change. While Israel claims the project is part of its security operations, Palestinians assert that it is a new tool in a long-term plan to strangle Gaza and turn it into a series of isolated cantons.<\/p>\n
