Watan<\/strong><\/em>-The United States and Israel have contacted Sudan, Somalia, and the self-declared independent region of Somaliland to explore the possibility of relocating Palestinians there, as part of former U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s plan for Gaza, which has Israeli backing.<\/p>\n

According to a report by The Associated Press (AP), U.S. and Israeli officials confirmed that communications were made with the governments of Sudan and Somalia, as well as with authorities in Somaliland.<\/p>\n

Sudanese officials told AP that their government rejected U.S. initiatives on the matter, while officials from Somalia and Somaliland stated that they were not aware of any such discussions.<\/p>\n

U.S. and Israeli Efforts to Advance the Plan<\/h3>\n

U.S. and Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that talks had taken place with Somalia and Somaliland, while U.S. officials confirmed that Sudan was also contacted. However, they admitted that the progress and level of discussions remained unclear.<\/p>\n

According to American officials, engagement with these countries began just days after Trump announced his Gaza plan, with Israel leading the discussions.<\/p>\n

AP reported that Israel and the U.S. offered various incentives\u2014financial, diplomatic, and security-related\u2014to potential partner nations, similar to the approach used by Trump five years ago in brokering the Abraham Accords with several Arab nations.<\/p>\n

Sudanese Officials Rejected the Proposal<\/h3>\n

Two Sudanese officials confirmed to AP that the Trump administration had indeed reached out to Sudan\u2019s military-led government about the possibility of receiving forcibly displaced Palestinians.<\/p>\n

One of the officials stated that the outreach began even before Trump\u2019s inauguration, with offers of military aid against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), assistance in post-war reconstruction, and other incentives.<\/p>\n

However, both Sudanese officials confirmed that the Sudanese government rejected the proposal outright, with one stating:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis proposal was immediately refused. The subject was never brought up again.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. Talks with Somaliland<\/h3>\n

A U.S. official involved in the discussions stated that the U.S. was “engaged in quiet dialogue with Somaliland on various areas that could benefit the United States in exchange for recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n
