Israeli FM Warns Arms Embargo Could Lead to “Destruction of Israel” and a “Second Holocaust”
Gideon Sa’ar Responds to Rising Global Calls to Halt Weapons Sales Amid Gaza War Accusations.
Watan-Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar warned of growing global calls to impose an arms embargo on Tel Aviv, claiming that if such efforts succeed, the result would be “the destruction of Israel.”
His remarks came on Tuesday evening during the International Conference on Combating Antisemitism held in West Jerusalem, organized by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attended by foreign ministers and officials from other countries, according to the Hebrew outlet Walla.
Sa’ar stated:“If the calls and actions by countries and politicians to impose an arms embargo on Israel succeed — God forbid — the outcome would be the destruction of Israel and a second Holocaust.”
He alleged that:“Israel is a country facing an explicit threat of destruction and attempted genocide by its neighbors, yet this fact is almost entirely absent from the global discourse surrounding the war.”
Since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, calls to suspend weapons exports to Israel have grown internationally. The most recent example came today as Spain’s Parliament began an expedited review of a draft law proposing an arms embargo on Israel.
