Egypt in Shock After Child Sexual Assault Case Revives Trauma of “Yassin” Incident
New Case Involving Three Children and a Billiards Hall Owner Sparks Public Outrage and Renewed Calls for Tougher Child Protection Laws.
Watan-Egypt is once again witnessing a wave of anger and condemnation following the exposure of a horrific sexual assault crime that claimed three child victims—an incident that revives memories of the widely publicized “Yassin” case from months ago. The new suspect, nicknamed “Ba’roor – El-Torbini,” was apprehended by security forces in Beheira Governorate after forensic investigations confirmed the children had been subjected to severe abuse.
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect lured children into a billiards hall he owned, threatened them with false theft accusations, and isolated them in a private back room to carry out his crimes. Even more disturbingly, he filmed one of the assaults to blackmail the child into repeated abuse.
The Public Prosecution began interrogating the 31-year-old suspect in relation to three official complaints. He reportedly confessed in detail to his predatory methods of deception and intimidation. This case follows the earlier “Yassin” tragedy, where the perpetrator was sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting the son of a close friend.

Media outlets and social platforms erupted in outrage, with widespread demands to toughen penalties for sexual assault and harassment—particularly against minors—and increasing pressure to enforce strict supervision of venues frequented by children.
The grim reality is that such incidents are no longer rare or isolated. They reflect a dangerous social and behavioral crisis that demands immediate intervention from both authorities and civil society to protect children and deter predators.
