Watan-Israeli police, acting on orders from the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security agency), have arrested a couple in their 30s on suspicion of spying for Iran.
According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth on Tuesday, the announcement of the couple’s arrest — residents of Ra’anana in central Israel — came via a joint statement issued by both the police and Shin Bet.
The statement reported that police searched the couple’s apartment, seizing several mobile phones, computers, and technological devices. Authorities also uncovered communications suspected to be correspondence between the couple and an intermediary.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a session to extend their detention.
