Israel Agrees to New Gaza Ceasefire Proposal Brokered by Trump Envoy

Prime Minister Netanyahu informs hostage families of Israel’s approval of a new ceasefire deal proposed by U.S. envoy Steve Wietcov, as Hamas confirms it is reviewing the terms with a focus on permanent truce.

Watan-Israeli media reported on Thursday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the families of Israeli hostages that Israel has accepted the new Gaza ceasefire proposal submitted by Steve Wietcov, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East.

Earlier on Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced that it had received the new proposal via mediators and was currently reviewing it.

In a statement, Hamas confirmed:“Our leadership has received the new proposal by U.S. envoy Steve Wietcov through mediators.”

The statement added:“We are examining this proposal with responsibility and in a way that serves the interests of our people, eases their suffering, and leads to a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.”

Hamas did not disclose the full details of the proposal. The announcement comes amid a renewed push in international mediation efforts as Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza continues unabated since October 7, 2023.

On Wednesday, Wietcov expressed optimism about reaching a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Speaking at the White House alongside President Donald Trump, he told reporters:“We are about to send a new set of terms that we hope to deliver later today.”

He added:“The President will review it. I have a very positive feeling that we are close to reaching a long-term solution, a temporary ceasefire, and ultimately a peaceful resolution to this conflict.”
