Palestinian Doctor Dies After Israeli Strike That Killed His 9 Children in Khan Younis
Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar Succumbs to Injuries Days After Airstrike on His Home; Gaza Officials Condemn “Horrific Massacre” as War Crime.
Watan-A Palestinian medical source announced Saturday that Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar died from injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike that killed his nine children in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on May 25.
According to medical staff at Khan Younis Hospital, Dr. Al-Najjar succumbed to wounds after an airstrike on his home in the Qeizan Al-Najjar area.
On May 25, a tragic scene unfolded when Palestinian pediatrician Dr. Al-Najjar’s wife, working at Nasser Hospital, received the burned bodies of her nine children after an Israeli airstrike targeted their house. The couple’s only surviving child, Adam, was injured, along with her husband, Dr. Al-Najjar, who has now died.
At the time, Gaza’s Government Media Office described the attack as a “horrific massacre” and declared it a “war crime under international law.”
In a statement, the office said:“The Israeli army committed a brutal and horrifying massacre against a peaceful Palestinian family by bombing the Al-Najjar home in Qeizan Al-Najjar, Khan Younis.”

It stressed that the strike had no military justification, claiming:“Killing has become a pastime for Israeli forces, as they enjoy the destruction of innocent children’s lives.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full U.S. backing, has waged what Gaza authorities call a genocidal war on Gaza. The death toll has surpassed 178,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women, with more than 11,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced.
