Shocking assault leaves 2-year-old Afghan child in coma; Russian authorities probe possible racial hatred and drug use

Watan-In a horrifying crime that has sparked widespread outrage in Afghanistan, a Belarusian national violently assaulted a 2-year-old Afghan child at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow by lifting him and slamming him forcefully to the ground.

According to media reports, the child’s mother had fled Iran with him earlier this week following the outbreak of the Israel-Iran war.

Russian authorities arrested the suspect, Vladimir Vitkov, 31, and opened a criminal investigation on charges of attempted murder.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening in the baggage claim area at Sheremetyevo Airport. Surveillance footage showed the Belarusian citizen—who had arrived in Moscow from Kabul—approaching the child, suddenly grabbing him by the arm and violently throwing him to the ground, causing the boy to hit his head and lose consciousness.
