Gaza Baby Born Without Brain Sparks Fears of Radiation-Linked Birth Defects

Doctors Warn of Rising Congenital Abnormalities in Gaza Amid Israeli Bombardment and Suspected Use of Toxic Munitions.

WatanDr. Munir Al-Bursh, Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, described Malak’s case as one of the most severe congenital deformities recently recorded—and warned that such cases are on the rise. He blamed the ongoing bombardment for these alarming changes in fetal health, stating that radiation from smart bombs and explosive missiles, including internationally banned ones, may directly affect fetal development inside the womb.

This isn’t the first time health officials have warned of a noticeable increase in birth deformities in Gaza since the war began. But the birth of Malak without a brain has turned these warnings into a global emergency alarm.

Mysterious Weapons, Catastrophic Consequences

Experts in Gaza, including gynecologists, have confirmed that toxic gases and heavy metals released from missiles and shells falling on residential neighborhoods may be the direct cause. Previous studies conducted in Iraq following the U.S. invasion showed that such materials led to devastating brain and physical deformities—the same outcomes now reappearing in Gaza.

Al-Bursh warned that similar cases may multiply if the bombardment continues unchecked, especially in the absence of international accountability or even monitoring of the types of weapons Israel is using in the strip.

Gaza Burns… and the Unborn Pay the Price

In a war of extermination where everything is used—from starvation to destruction—the womb itself has not been spared. Even before seeing the light of day, this child became a victim of indirect bombing, its name: radiation.

What is worse, all this is happening without any international committee to document the environmental and health crimes of the war. As if being born without a brain is not a crime—but just another statistic in a brief medical report.

A Repetition of the Iraq Tragedy?

The Health Ministry Director in Gaza compared the current situation to what occurred in Fallujah, Iraq, after the 2003 invasion, where birth defect rates skyrocketed due to radioactive bombs.

So, is Gaza becoming the new Fallujah? Is Israel treating the strip as a testing ground for secret weapons? And if the child Malak was born without a brain—who is the one responsible and without a conscience?
