18 Israeli Soldiers Die by Suicide in 2025 — Double Last Year’s Mid-Year Toll

Israeli military radio reveals sharp increase in soldier suicides, raising concerns over mental health amid ongoing war.

Watan-Hebrew media reported on Friday that 18 Israeli soldiers have died by suicide since the beginning of 2025 — including three in July alone — marking a sharp rise compared to the 9 suicides during the first half of 2024.

According to Israeli Army Radio, the figures “indicate a significant increase in the number of suicides within the army this year compared to previous years.”

The report clarified that the information was not officially released by the army, but rather obtained from sources familiar with internal military data.

“In the first half of 2025, 15 soldiers died by suicide,” the station reported, “with an additional 3 cases in July, totaling 18 suicides since the start of the year.”

By contrast, only 9 suicides were recorded during the same period in 2024, meaning this year’s toll has doubled.
