Gas Leak Blamed for Explosion Near Iran’s Qom; Authorities Deny Israeli Involvement

Watan-Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported Monday that an explosion occurred in a residential building in the Pardisan district near the city of Qom, injuring seven people.

A source quoted by the agency, who was not named, emphasized that the explosion was not the result of an Israeli attack.

The head of the Fire Department in Qom stated:“Four residential units were damaged in the explosion. Preliminary estimates indicate the cause was a gas leak. Investigations are ongoing.”

The report clarified that the building’s residents were ordinary civilians, with no indication of any military or strategic links.

While the incident comes in the wake of a 12-day aerial war between Iran and Israel, Iranian authorities have refrained from blaming Israel for this or other recent explosions inside the country.

Historically, Israel has conducted targeted assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists it believes are involved in projects threatening its security. Iran insists its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

During the recent Iran-Israel air war, both Israeli and American forces attacked Iranian nuclear sites. Since then, multiple blasts have occurred in Iran, raising public speculation. However, Iranian officials have dismissed rumors of foreign sabotage.

Fars quoted an unnamed Iranian source saying:“There is no need to worry about rumors of Israeli attacks. If an act of aggression occurs, the public will be informed immediately, and sirens will sound in the occupied territories.”
