Al-Qassam Brigades Publish Video of Israeli Soldier Killed During Failed Capture Attempt in Khan Younis

Hamas’ military wing releases rare combat footage of an ambush on Israeli forces east of Khan Younis, claiming it attempted to capture a soldier during the operation.

Watan-On Thursday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a video documenting the moment an Israeli soldier was targeted and killed, stating that it had attempted to capture him during a ground operation east of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.

The footage was published in a statement released via the group’s Telegram channel.

According to Al-Qassam, the video captures a raid on a gathering of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in the Abasan al-Kabira area, east of Khan Younis. The operation involved striking two military vehicles and two bulldozers, in addition to the attempted capture of one Israeli soldier.

This marks the first known attempted capture operation in over 14 months, and it comes amid a wave of intensified Palestinian retaliation to what the factions have described as Israel’s genocide war in Gaza.

The video shows Israeli vehicles being tracked and targeted, followed by a scene of an Israeli soldier fleeing from his vehicle before being shot at close range. The footage also shows his weapon being seized after his death.
