UAE-Israeli “Encirclement Map” Aims to Politically Isolate Algeria

Secret Abu Dhabi meeting outlines six-pronged soft-power and intelligence campaign against Algeria’s anti-normalization stance.

Watan-Informed sources revealed that a recent closed-door security meeting was held in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, bringing together Emirati and Israeli officials — including Mohammed bin Zayed and his brother Tahnoun bin Zayed, Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, and the head of Mossad — to devise a plan targeting Algeria indirectly.

According to those sources, the meeting viewed Algeria’s refusal to normalize relations with Israel as “the final obstacle” to a new regional trajectory led by the UAE, quoting bin Zayed as saying, “Everyone is open to normalization… except Algeria.”

The plan, described as a “comprehensive encirclement map,” relies on soft-power and intelligence tools and focuses on penetrating deep into Algeria’s African sphere of influence along six axes: establishing influence centers in the Sahel countries; expanding Israeli presence through civilian projects; coordinating media efforts to undermine Algerian narratives; and leveraging Moroccan–Israeli coordination on the Western Sahara issue.

Observers say these moves form part of an unannounced alliance through which Abu Dhabi seeks to politically and media-wise isolate Algeria, in an attempt to break down its steadfast opposition to normalization and its rejection of the new regional maps that external actors wish to impose on the region.
