Fuel Truck Blast and Successive Explosions Kill Seven in Idlib Province
Accidental Fuel-Laden Truck Explosion in Hama Sparks Dozens of Secondary Blasts near Al-Fu‘ah.
Watan-Seven people were killed and others injured when a fuel transport truck exploded, followed by a series of secondary blasts in Idlib province, central Syria, on Wednesday.
A medical source at Hama National Hospital told the German News Agency (DPA) that seven burned bodies and several wounded arrived at the hospital—some with serious injuries—and that a number of the injured were transferred to other hospitals for treatment.
Hassan Abdullah, from the town of Jebrin, told DPA:“The cause of the explosion is unknown, but it caused extensive destruction to nearby buildings. Rescue teams are clearing the rubble of destroyed structures, and the numbers of dead and injured are in the dozens—some were burned directly, others were hurt by collapsing buildings.”
In Idlib province, local sources informed DPA that over ten explosions occurred near the town of Al-Fu‘ah on the Kafriya road at a military site. The successive blasts point to stored ammunition and rockets catching fire, with White Helmets crews exercising extreme caution in their firefighting efforts.
