Israel Reportedly Agrees “In Principle” to Reconstruction Aid for Gaza During Possible Ceasefire

Yedioth Ahronoth reports Israeli approval for Qatar and others to begin funding Gaza’s rebuilding, as Hamas demands proof of serious intent to end the war.

Watan-Hebrew media reported Thursday that Israel has “agreed in principle” to allow countries to begin directing resources for the reconstruction of Gaza during a potential ceasefire.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth,“Israel has agreed in principle to permit Qatar and other countries to start channeling funds and resources for Gaza’s reconstruction during a potential ceasefire.”

The newspaper added:“Hamas insists on this as a guarantee of Israel’s seriousness in ending the war.”

However, the report noted that:“Israel is demanding that Qatar not be the sole source of these funds, but that other countries also participate.”

For Hamas, this move would signal to Palestinians in Gaza that the war is nearing its end, the paper stated.
