Syria Arrests All ISIS Cell Members Behind Deadly Damascus Church Bombing
Interior Ministry Confirms Capture of Terror Cell Responsible for Mar Elias Church Attack That Killed 25 and Injured 63.
Watan-On Tuesday evening, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of all members of the ISIS terrorist cell that carried out the bombing of Mar Elias Church in the capital Damascus.
On Sunday, a suicide attacker opened fire inside the church before detonating an explosive vest, killing 25 people and injuring 63, according to the Ministries of Interior and Health.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din al-Baba stated at a press conference that the arrests followed“a security operation based on initial intelligence, carried out in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate.”

He explained:“Our security units in the Damascus countryside conducted a raid targeting the terrorist cell responsible for the Mar Elias Church bombing in the Al-Dweilaa neighborhood. The group is affiliated with ISIS and has no connection to any religious or advocacy organization.”
He added:“During the interrogation of one of the captured terrorists, he revealed the locations of all the cell’s hideouts. All members were subsequently arrested, and weapons and explosives were confiscated.”
