Hezbollah Condemns Trump’s Threat Against Khamenei as “Reckless” While Lebanese Voices Warn of Iranian Overreach
Hezbollah Denounces U.S. Assassination Threat as an Attack on the Islamic World; Independent Southern Bloc in Lebanon Rejects Turning Shiites into Tools for Iran’s Regional Agenda.
Watan-Hezbollah responded Thursday to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, calling the statement “reckless and foolish” and warning of “grave consequences.”
In an official statement, Hezbollah said:“Some who hold power in their countries clearly do not understand the immense spiritual and political stature of the great leader and jurist, Imam Ali Khamenei—not just in Iran, but across the Islamic and free world.”
Hezbollah denounced the threat, stating:“The very utterance of such a threat is an insult to hundreds of millions of believers, supporters of Islam, dignity, and resistance. It is both shameful and condemned in the strongest terms.”
The party declared unwavering loyalty:“Today we are more determined to follow the path of the great leader Khamenei and to stand firmly with him and the heroic Iranian people in resisting the American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.”
Hezbollah concluded:“Millions of free people standing with Khamenei cannot be defeated—even if the world’s tyrants and criminals unite. The triumph of resistance is inevitable, and the defeat of falsehood is certain.”

No Clear Indication of Hezbollah Entering the War
Notably, the statement did not include any direct threat or declaration of military involvement in the current Iran-Israel confrontation, despite speculation by some Iranian officials that Hezbollah might intervene if the U.S. escalates militarily.
Lebanese Backlash: Sovereignty at Stake
In response to Hezbollah’s stance and Iran’s narrative, the Lebanese group “Independent Southerners” issued a strong condemnation. They accused Iran of treating Lebanon as a battlefield and the Shiite community as a political asset.
Their statement read:“These remarks represent a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a humiliation to the dignity of all Lebanese, particularly the Shiite community.”
They added:“Iran’s comments reflect a colonial mindset, using Lebanon as a zone of influence and the Shiites as private property sacrificed in wars that serve Iranian—not Lebanese—interests.”
The group emphasized:“Southern Lebanon and its people have sacrificed to defend their nation—not to be pawns in Iran’s regional ambitions or the nuclear negotiation file.”

They called on Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, head of the Amal Movement, to take a stand:“As leader of the Shiite community, he must reject these Iranian statements and prevent dragging Shiites into a war that does not represent their national will.”
The statement closed with an appeal for a unified national position rejecting the instrumentalization of Lebanon’s Shiite population in foreign conflicts.
