Since early Friday, Israel—backed by the United States—has launched a wide-scale offensive against Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, missile bases, and assassinating military commanders and nuclear scientists. The assault has resulted in 224 deaths and 1,277 injuries.
In response, Tehran has fired ballistic missiles and drones, killing approximately 24 people and wounding hundreds.
Tel Aviv and Tehran consider each other arch-enemies. The current Israeli assault marks the largest of its kind, shifting from a covert “shadow war” of bombings and assassinations to an open military confrontation.
