Iran Says It Repelled Major Israeli Cyberattack on National Digital Infrastructure

Tehran Accuses Israel of Launching a Massive Cyber War Amid Ongoing Military Escalation; Iranian Cyber Command Claims Defense Systems Held.

Watan-Iranian media reported Tuesday that the country’s Cybersecurity Command accused Israel of launching a “massive cyber war” against Iran’s national digital infrastructure, describing it as one of the most significant cyber offensives in recent years.

According to official sources,“A large number of cyberattacks were successfully repelled,”as Iranian cyber defense systems worked to mitigate the intense digital assault, which came amid the fifth consecutive day of military confrontations between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

The cyberattack reportedly targeted critical infrastructure, including government databases, telecommunications, and public utility systems—mirroring Israel’s strategy of combining physical strikes with digital warfare to paralyze Iran’s internal systems.

While Israeli officials have not commented, such attacks are consistent with previous Mossad- and Unit 8200-linked operations aimed at disrupting Iranian nuclear and military capabilities.

This cyber incident underscores the expanding battlefield between the two nations, now encompassing airspace, ground forces, proxy groups, and cyberspace. Analysts warn that cyber warfare could escalate regional instability, especially if infrastructure disruptions provoke retaliation or affect civilian sectors.

Iran has previously faced similar intrusions, notably the Stuxnet virus, widely attributed to a joint U.S.-Israeli operation targeting Iranian nuclear centrifuges in 2010. Tehran’s cyber defenses have since been upgraded significantly, and this latest event will likely intensify its push for cyber sovereignty and digital resilience.
