Mass Protests Across Morocco, Yemen, and Mauritania Demand End to Gaza Genocide
Thousands take to the streets in solidarity with Gaza, calling for an end to Israel’s U.S.-backed war and blockade, amid rising humanitarian catastrophe and mass civilian casualties.
Watan-Thousands of citizens in Morocco, Yemen, and Mauritania participated in large-scale demonstrations on Friday in solidarity with Gaza, demanding support for Palestinians and an end to the genocide being carried out by Israel in the besieged strip since October 7, 2023.
In Morocco, the Moroccan Commission for the Support of the Ummah’s Causes (a non-governmental group) organized rallies under the slogan “Together for the Gaza Global March”. Demonstrations spanned multiple cities including Tiflet, Casablanca (west), Inezgane (south), Oujda and Taza (east), and Al Hoceima, Tangier, and Tetouan (north).
Participants waved Palestinian flags, held up images of the Dome of the Rock, and carried signs rejecting Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinian people. They also praised the “global initiative launched by free people worldwide to participate in the international march to break the Gaza blockade.”
The demonstrations extended to the provinces of Dhamar, Saada, Mahwit, Amran, Hajjah, and Al-Jawf (north), Al-Hudaydah (west), Raymah (northwest), Taiz (southwest), and Al-Bayda (central).
Protesters waved both Yemeni and Palestinian flags, carried placards condemning the “Israeli aggression on Gaza,” and chanted slogans against the United States and Israel, according to the agency.
In Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, thousands marched to demand an end to the Israeli blockade on Gaza and to stop what they called a genocidal war waged by Tel Aviv.
The march, organized by the National Pact for the Support of the Palestinian People (a civil society group), began in front of the Grand Mosque and ended at the UN mission headquarters in Nouakchott. It was held under the banner “March to Break the Siege on Gaza.”
